The Contidrom, "prototype" and reference of all Continental tire test tracks, is now more than 54 years old. When it was opened, the high-speed oval, which is still impressive today with its length of 2.8 km, was initially available. The other tracks such as the wet handling track and the dry handling track, each 1.8 km and 3.8 km long respectively, were added in further expansion stages of the test facilities.
Important tests on the test tracks have also been possible in the AIBA hall, regardless of weather conditions and automated. Since the start of tire testing, Continental has tested around 1.3 million tires in Jeversen. For the future, Continental is planning another wet handling track identical to the existing one. However, not to test even more tires, but to equalize operations on the highly frequented track. Currently, around 100 employees work at the test site. Over the years, the test track north of Hannover has become more important than ever with its diverse, precise options for enabling the further development of tires in connection with research and development with the evaluation of performance characteristics on the test tracks. Continental is thus making an important contribution to greater safety on the roads.
